Each year, a group of exceptional To-Shin Do practitioners from around the world gather in Portland, Maine for DISCOVERY.
DISCOVERY is a premier annual training event, featuring the very best in To-Shin Do instruction. All experience levels are invited to explore this historically rich and empowering martial art.
DISCOVERY is about sharing - growing - learning - laughing - teaching - training - and having fun.
Here are just a few of our past Instructors:
Tori Myotoshi Eldridge is a teacher, author and motivational speaker in addition
to wife and mother. She holds a 4th degree black belt in To Shin Do
(Ninjutsu) and a black belt in Tang Soo Do. She is the senior instructor
for the Warrior Quest Society in Newbury Park, California and one of the
more prominent women in Stephen K. Hayes' world organization. Born in
Hawaii, she attended Northwestern University before performing on Broadway and
TV and in films.
"I had a wonderful time teaching and training at Discovery 2006. The synergy of friendly dedicated practitioners and high level training produced a truly magical experience for everyone."
Brett Varnum - 5th Degree Hombu Shihan - began To-Shin Do training in the
mid-1980s and founded his own Quest Center Affiliate School in Maine in the
mid-1990s. In addition to To-Shin Do striking and grappling arts, Dotoshi
Varnum's teaching specialties include survival in hostile environments,
firearms and archery.
"Mr. Poliquin's Discovery Seminars give both students and teachers a tremendous opportunity to learn and share martial arts knowledge. Hardee Merritt
received his black belt degree from Mr. Stephen K Hayes. He has
been an instructor at the NC Quest Center for the past 9 years. Mr. Merritt
specializes in advanced techniques for adults, "Cardio-taijutsu" (taijutsu
style kickboxing), youth and children's classes.
"Discovery was a truly awesome event. Mr. Poliquin, the other instructors, and the atmosphere made it one of the best seminar experiences I've ever had. I can't wait for the next one."
Marc Jobin comes to Discovery as the Chief Instructor and Founder of the
Qu�bec Shin-Gi-Tai martial art school, located in Drummondville and Princeville, Quebec, Canada.
